The Austrian database grants.at provides students, graduates and researchers with information on national and international scholarships and grants. It is Austria’s biggest online database for scholarships and research grants for all academic areas. Financial support options for students, graduates and researchers range from classical grants and scholarships, allowances and prizes to extensive national, European and international research support programs.

The scope of providers of funding ranges from international organisations, the European Union, national governments in Austria and abroad (ministries and administrative organisations) and their provincial governments or municipalities to private foundations, associations and companies.

AAF Young Conductors Fellowship & AFF Fine Arts Prize 2026

WHEN: Summer 2026
WHERE: Salzburg, Austria

The AAF Young Conductors Fellowship provides promising young conductors (age 30 or younger) from the United States the opportunity to spend up to four weeks at the Salzburg Festival observing the world’s leading conductors and artists at work during rehearsals and performances. Fellows live at Schloss Arenberg, located a mere ten minutes from the Festival Hall, where they can interact with members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, who are in residence at Schloss Arenberg during July and August. The application deadline is April 17, 2026.

The AAF Fine Arts Prize provides fellowships to study at the Salzburg International Summer Academy of Fine Arts in Austria to fine arts graduate students studying at American universities, or those who have completed their graduate studies within the past two years. Founded in 1953 by Oskar Kokoschka, the Salzburg International Summer Academy of Fine Arts offers a unique working environment at the iconic Fortress Hohensalzburg, situated on a hill overlooking the city. Fellows learn from well-known and highly respected artists, curators, and art critics from around the world and immerse themselves in a European contemporary art scene, quite different from their U.S. academic environment. The application deadline is Friday, April 24, 2026.

University of Vienna Summer School for International and European Studies

Summer School

WHEN: July 11 - August 8, 2026
WHERE: Wolfgangsee Lake, Austria

The univie: summer school will take place from July 11 to August 8, 2026. The four-week program offers high-level European studies courses, the Austrian Arbitration Academy, and German language courses.

The European studies courses are held in English and focus on Europe and the European Union. They cover political, economic, and legal transformations, as well as historical and cultural aspects of the multiple transitions the continent is currently undergoing. The Austrian Arbitration Academy is designed for law students and focuses on international dispute settlement by arbitral tribunals.

 

Simon Wiesenthal PrizeSummer School

Honoring Civic Engagement Against Antisemitism, and Holocaust Education

The Simon Wiesenthal Prize, awarded annually by the National Fund of the Republic of Austria for Victims of National Socialism at the Austrian Parliament, recognizes outstanding civic engagement in combating antisemitism and educating the public about the Holocaust. Named after Simon Wiesenthal (1908–2005), the Prize celebrates individuals and organizations dedicated to justice, remembrance, and fighting indifference.

The Prize is awarded in two categories: Civic engagement to combat antisemitism and civic engagement to educate about the Holocaust. Each with €7,500. A Main Prize of €15,000 honors exceptional achievements across both areas

The application deadline is March 31, 2026.

The programmes range from grants aimed at broad target groups to more specific ones aimed at applicants from certain fields of study or regions.
