Upper Austrian pianist VOLKER NEMMER studied at Vienna’s University for Music and Performing Arts with Paul Badura-Skoda and Anna Pfeiffer, as well as at the Vienna Conservatory, where his specialty was vocal accompaniment for Lieder and oratorio. He participated in master classes by Dimitri Baschkirov in Moscow and Ruben Lifschitz in Paris. Since 1993 he has taught at the Vienna Conservatory.
Mr. Nemmer has performed as soloist and accompanist at many festivals, including Concerti per l’Europa in Venice, Vienna’s Musiksommer - KlangBogen, Colourscape-Festival, Carinthian Summer Festival, Festival Horgange, Festival Wien Modern, Festival Allegro Vivo, the European Festival Weeks in Passau, as well as Jeunesse Musicale. He has a close working relationship with the Dance Componay Homunculus. He has also worked with the Vienna Volksoper Ballet for the premiere of Tanz im Exil, and at the Impulstanz Festival in 2005. He has performed in Germany, Italy, Hungary, Croatia, Liechtenstein, Sweden, France, Switzerland, and England.
His sensitive Lieder accompaniment is much appreciated, and has led to work with singers Ellen van Lier, Elisabeth Linhart, Anna Maria Pammer, Ulla Pilz, Bea Robein, Alexandra Scholik, Rupert Bergmann, Adrian Eröd, Mathias Hausmann, Robert Holl, Wolfgang Holzmair, Alexander Kaimbacher and Mario Zeffiri.
