Fttinger1.jpgJOHANNES FÖTTINGER was born in Vienna and studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts. He participated in Waldemar Kmentt’s opera classes at the Conservatory of Vienna and at the Salzburg Mozarteum. In Vienna he has performed at the Volksoper, the Konzerthaus and the Musikverein; he has taken part in the Bezirksfestwochen in Vienna and the Bregenz Festival, and has sung at the Teatro Nacional in San Salvador and the theaters in Frankfurt/Oder, Coburg in Germany, and St. Gall in Switzerland. He has toured in opera and operetta productions in Germany, also directing a children‘s opera, Kinder des Olymp, which gave performances in Austria, Germany and northern Italy. His roles in opera and operetta include the Duke in Verdi’s Rigoletto, Count Kronthal in Lortzing's Wildschütz, Hans in Smetana's The Bartered Bride, Lyonel in Flotow's Martha, Danilo/Rossillon in Lehár's The Merry Widow, Alfred in Strauß' Die Fledermaus, the Count in Strauß' A Night in Venice, Count Zedlau in Strauß' Wiener Blut, Edwin in Kálmán's The Gipsy Princess and Symon/Jan in Millöcker's The Beggar Student. He has given Lieder recitals throughout Europe. Mr. Föttinger gave the first performance of Krenek’s Reisebuch aus den österreichischen Alpen in Moscow. In January 2007, he gave a recital at the Austrian Cultural Forum in New York.
